  Artist Statement
Tam Gannon

"The appreciation of fine-handcrafted designs in an ageless phenomenon. A desire for something unique. A secret or unconscious wish to expose an inner association with creative excellence."

As a multi award-winning graduate of The Queensland College of Art (Griffith University), Tam Gannon has developed his skills and influence to a point where nothing seems impossible. His favourite material may be titanium, but the incorporation of gold and silver, together with the ancient Japanese technique of Mokume Gane, takes Tam Gannon's pieces beyond just jewellery statements, they are treasures of his creativity and era.

Titanium is one of the most 'Leading edge' materials in the world. Its use in High-tech applications is well known. Combine the design flare of Tam Gannon with this intriguing light weight inert material, add gems stones, a touch of medieval influence, and you have some of the most unique jewellery pieces available today.

The influence of medieval accoutrements is perhaps not too obvious but its interpretation is dynamic and very much 'now'. Tam's travels to Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East have tinged his designs with further depth and dimension; they are especially evident in his non-jewellery sculptural forms such as goblets, cutlery and fascinating one-off pieces like board games.

From the subliminal eclectic images of Art Nouveau & Deco to the glamour and fantasy of Hollywood, Tam's aim is to produce the finest examples of contemporary jewellery design.
